Gong Yoo will have to choose death to let Kim Go Eun live in the Goblin: The Lonely and Great God. It seems impossible for the onscreen couple to avoid their fate.
Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun) has finally proven that she is Kim Shin’s (Gong Yoo) bride. She was able to grab the sword and almost pulled it out. He has already fallen deeply in love with her so he decided to live a little longer with her.
However, he might be forced to end his immortal life as soon as possible. In Goblin episode 8, Kim Shin found that Ji Eun Tak will die if she does not remove the sword in his chest right away. It is her destiny and she has to fulfil otherwise she will become useless.
Death will always follow her as long as the goblin is still alive. Based on the flow of the story, Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun might not have a happy ending in Goblin: The Lonely and Great God.
He will surely make all the sacrifices needed just to make her live. If miracles will happen, the two might have a chance to be together. True love could break the curse that was given to Kim Shin nine centuries ago.
He has seen Ji Eun Tak’s future when they went to Canada. The creator might let them both live but erase their memories about each other. They might meet again after 10 years. He is probably the person she is meeting at the restaurant.
