Nintendo will be releasing a hybrid video game console next year called the Nintendo Switch. The full specs of the highly anticipated gaming device are expected to be revealed at a press event in January 2017.
However, the features of Nintendo Switch have already been leaked after a NeoGAF user posted the patent of the console online. The device will reportedly be powered by the last generation Maxwell graphics-processing architecture of Nvidia. It is also expected to have 1 teraflop of performance.
Though the aforementioned features make Nintendo Switch really advanced and powerful, the console is still below PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in terms of performance. PS4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio are also more powerful than the upcoming device.
The leak reveals that a VR headset might be included in Nintendo Switch. The headset seems to function like the Gear VR which is smartphone-based, as per VentureBeat.
Video games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, LEGO City Undercover, Dragon Quest XI and Metroid will be playable on the console. Recent reports state that a new Mario game and a Pokémon title will also be accessible on the device. More games included in the list will be revealed next year.
Additional details about the seventh major home Nintendo Switch will be announced at the Switch event which will happen on Jan. 12, 2017. The device will be available to gamers worldwide in March 2017 at $249.
